Solution Saturday-With Wade

Posted by Brenda Yoho

I maintain connections with my former students and their families, even though we may not converse daily. They know they can reach out to me to share any news.

One of my former students, Wade, was under my guidance when I served as a middle school principal. I've kept in touch with his mother, Wendy, throughout the years. Unfortunately, Wade has been dealing with health issues for an extended period and has undergone heart surgeries. He has a pacemaker and recently went through the evaluation process for a heart transplant. Regrettably, he was not approved for placement on the transplant list, and he is currently in palliative care.

Palliative care signifies that he will receive ongoing support, but his heart condition cannot be cured. I kindly request that you keep Wade and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Wade is a remarkable individual with a strong faith, always striving to navigate life's challenges. He even helped me set up his contact information on my phone, added his picture, changed my wallpaper to display the weather, and sent a message to his own phone. He found a photo of me online to add to his phone so it will show up when I call. We can also connect through FaceTime. He just makes me smile and laugh. We have always been connected on Facebook, but now we have more ways.

The joy of life is treasured each day as we enjoy the gifts we receive. Wade is a gift I am blessed I have been provided in life. Remember, tomorrow is not promised, yesterday cannot be changed and today is what we choose to make it.
