Lead with Two Rules: Feeling Good & Feeling Safe by Brenda Yoho
Be part of the problem or part of the solution, the choice is always yours to make.

A new perspective for this Wednesday! As I prepare this post, I am engaged with quotes from my book, questions to answer, graphics to review and plans to prepare for the official book launch. A notification appears in my email box of the imminent arrival of the paperback for my final approval before production. I will soon hold my completed book for the first time—an exhilarating moment!

In my book, readers will discover the roots of my philosophy, tracing back to my childhood. Each passing year, shaped by life’s experiences, external influences, and accumulated wisdom, defined my evolving priorities.

At the core of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs lies the fundamental significance of feeling good and feeling safe. These emotional and psychological elements serve as the foundation for our well-being. Just as physiological needs are essential for survival, the need to feel good emotionally and secure provides a sturdy base for personal growth and fulfillment. When individuals experience emotional well-being and a sense of safety, they are better equipped to navigate higher levels of the hierarchy, fostering self-esteem, meaningful relationships, and ultimately, self-actualization. Thus, the pursuit of feeling good and secure acts as a pivotal catalyst in ascending Maslow's hierarchy towards a more enriched and purposeful life.

Working at the foundation of Two Rules is in the approach of recognizing the power everyone has, choice. The power of choice is so important to recognize, explain and teach. How the choices we make not only impact ourselves, but also others. This is an essential part of the process.

Choice

What choices have you made?

Think about all of the choices you make from small ones to very large ones.

Would you have made a different choice?

I choose to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I cannot choose what happens to me, but I can make a choice in how I respond.

Helping others understand the power of choice and the consequences, is the first step.

I am excited to share my book with all of you and so appreciate every individual in my life who has been a piece of the words you read on each page. My life is not without trauma, tragedy, illness, overcoming, celebrations, and choices. Blessings to all of you.
