Dodging Bullets, Arrows and Fear

Well, I tumble outta bed and stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawn and stretch and try to come to life

Jump in the shower, and the blood starts pumping
Out on the street, the traffic starts jumping
With folks like me on the job from 9 to 5
”~Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 released in 1980. This song received a Grammy for the best country song, and she received a Grammy for the best female performance. The song has gone on to produce a movie, musicals, and so much more!

Going to work each day can be redundant. People can feel isolated and so many other issues, and problems come to mind. It seems just getting to work; we may be dodging bullets, arrows, and fear to get through or out of the door to begin our work day.

Let’s talk about how to deal with all of these things to take back our work life to be one of meaning, significance, and inspiration.

Come with me and escape

Gulf Shores Alabama, evening walk on the beach. September 14, 2022

“I didn't think about my lady
I know that sounds kinda mean
, But me and my old lady
Had fallen into the same old dull routine

So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad”

Rupert Holmes wrote and sang Escape as it became a hit in 1979. It is based on a true story if you google to ask the question. But my question is, who does not need to escape for just a few minutes, hours, days, or weeks? Taking a little time to escape helps you to get to the roots of who you are, where you have been, what you have learned and how you are going to continue to grow.

Help Wanted

It does not matter where you go; you will see Help Wanted signs. Many signs have a sign-on bonus to encourage applicants and other things like flexible workdays and hours.

Then you also see many people asking for help. Signs pleading to give them money. In Indiana, a mother had a sign saying she had three children needing help, and she had one of her children with her, a little girl looking to be around the age of seven.

What can be the solution to these issues we see?

Pull up a chair and have a seat

While traveling with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, we had a great time talking with other people who were traveling. We also spoke with the local people in each area, and it was great to hear about the different areas.

Talking during meals or waiting to be seated is when you can have the best conversations. We learned so much about people. You do not need to know about their political beliefs to enjoy conversations about nature, children, grandchildren, hobbies, and much more. Pull up a chair and have a seat so we can talk for a spell in my best southern voice.

How do you do?

How do you do all the things you do in a day? How do you do……

I want children to ask questions.

Continue the questions with another question and another. Keep digging deeper and research for answers. Try experiments, take action steps and keep working to find the answer. We do not want to promote asking and getting the answers; we want children to ask and explore to seek answers.
